Giveaway – If You Find Me by Emily Murdoch

April 14, 2013 Emily Murdoch, Giveaway 62

This is my first giveaway hop, so the prize needs to be special.  The winner will receive If You Find Me by Emily Murdoch, the best book I’ve read this year.  (My review is here.)  This giveaway is international, and the winner will receive the book from Amazon (if in the U.S.) or from The Book Depository (if outside the U.S.)

Goodreads synopsis: There are some things you can’t leave behind…

A broken-down camper hidden deep in a national forest is the only home fifteen year-old Carey can remember. The trees keep guard over her threadbare existence, with the one bright spot being Carey’s younger sister, Jenessa, who depends on Carey for her very survival. All they have is each other, as their mentally ill mother comes and goes with greater frequency. Until that one fateful day their mother disappears for good, and two strangers arrive. Suddenly, the girls are taken from the woods and thrust into a bright and perplexing new world of high school, clothes and boys.

Now, Carey must face the truth of why her mother abducted her ten years ago, while haunted by a past that won’t let her go… a dark past that hides many a secret, including the reason Jenessa hasn’t spoken a word in over a year. Carey knows she must keep her sister close, and her secrets even closer, or risk watching her new life come crashing down.

You know, I never made the Katniss connection, probably because this books is not a dystopia, but there are similarities: both have these amazingly resilient heroines, and both are driven by the need to protect their younger sisters. Even though Katniss had to fight for her life in The Hunger Games, I’m going to say that Carey still had it worse. Yup – it was THAT BAD.

I had the opportunity to read an ARC of this book and passed it over thinking it wasn’t my thing. Now that I’ve seen so many good reviews I can’t wait to get my hands on this book! I’m excited that the main character reminded you of Jen Lawrence in Winter’s Bone-I absolutely LOVED that movie! Yet another reason I can’t wait to read this one =)

    Sounds great!
I love these new release blog hops! I love getting to know new books that are just released! They are so expensive that I usually wait a while before I buy them unless I really want to read it!
If I could pick any I would choose Walking Disaster or The Collector.
    Thanks for the giveaway!

Hi Stephanie! I’ve been wanting to read this book for some time now… I have read a number of blog reviews of it and every single one talks about how good it is and how much it impacted them. I actually have it checked out from the library right now, but I don’t know if I’ll have a chance to read it before someone else requests it!! (plus, I’d love to have my own copy ;-)) Thanks so much!!

At first, it reminds me (a little) about Room. Otherwise, it doesn’t really sound interesting. BUT. My Goodreads feed is full of good things about it. That’s why I want to win it!
