Black Friday is also known as the day in which Americans lose their collective minds and trample each other to get their hands on a cheap TV at Wal-Mart. But Kristen from My Friends Are Fiction and I would like to bring you a more pleasant experience. We don’t want you to get into fist fights at your local bookstore, so we are going to give you a chance to win one of these new releases (or an earlier book in the series), right from the comfort of your home.
This giveaway is international, open to anyone 13 and over who is able to receive books from The Book Depository.

I went Black Friday shopping last year for tablets for my brothers. It was crazy fun. I really want the beats pill by DR.Dre so I might go for that.
Zachary Flye
Does it have to be something that exists? Because if not, I would subject myself to the craziness of Black Friday if B&N or really any bookstore were giving away/selling a HARDCOVER box set of the Vampire Academy series by Richelle Mead.

Laura @ Music Plus Books
I think it’s clear… books! Haha, I’m not even sure if there are Black Friday sales for books but damn, if there was, I’d be all over it. Thank you for hosting a giveaway even for those who aren’t American!

In my neck of the woods (Italy) the Black Friday event is brand new. Or at least in my town. I have seen the news and O.O so many people in one place! They were like rabid animals. But I’d subject myself to the madness for endless supplies of chocolate and book sales. For those two categories I’d do it. Though the sales would have to be pretty impressive. So let’s say I go for books. If it’s over 20% off for each book then I’d go. Otherwise I don’t see the point, really (I’m a student, so I already have some bonuses and stuff.)

We don’t have anything that comes even CLOSE to Black Friday in South Africa. Probably the closest to that is the semi-huge sales a few days after Christmas. I don’t know what I want badly enough, but I just want to experience the madness once. Books, probably, is what I would want to spend most of my money on! And some electronic stuff. Maybe a new iPad, or just a new cover for my old iPad, or something like that.

I think in Canada the only sort of day like that would be boxing day, the day after Christmas, but even then the crowds aren’t so scary… I think mostly books would be worth the stampede, maybe electronics or clothing? I don’t think that I would ever join in on such crazy shopping though…
Atalia M.
I’ve only participated in Black Friday once and all I got were movies. I don’t know I’ve I’ll ever do it again since stores get so packed, its hard to look for what you want. If I were to do it again though it would be for shoes. I love shoes! I would endure Black Friday for a cute pair of shoes 😉
Isa
I live in Trinidad and the only time shopping gets slightly crazy is around Christmas time but it’s no way near the craziness of American sale shopping. I think I would be terrified of being trampled, I would say books but there are so many used shops and online stores that sell really cheap books. Maybe a kindle or tablet I think.
Evette Torres
I like to go Black Friday shopping at Walmart. I only go because tv shows are all $10. 🙂
Lisamarie
The only reason we consider Black Friday shopping is for laptops. Even at that we hit the Office Supply store for that because its not as crazy. Otherwise no thank you, its just too crazy.

I have been Black Friday shopping a couple of times, but over fifteen years ago. The one thing I learned was skip the major retailers and hit the smaller stores. You get better deals, less hassles, smaller turn outs, more items are likely to be in stock, and you don’t have to risk life and limb to get a good deal. Now-a-days, I am strictly an online shopper for most of my gift buying. I shop all year long, put items on the site’s wish list, and watch for price drops or specials–all from the comfort of my home.
Holly Letson
Do you have any crazy shopping days in your country?
I would exactly call Black Friday crazy, but it has been getting worse in the last few years.
I actually prefer to shop on The BEST Shopping Day of the year, December 26th.
What do you want enough to subject yourself to American-style Black Friday (the day after Thanksgiving) shopping madness? (Imagine huge crowds, long lines, pushing, shoving, people getting trampled.)
Again, I have never had any such problems while shopping on Black Friday. But, then again, I live in Alabama, and used to live in Mississippi, so I wasn’t in places that what you mentioned happens. That usually happens in NY or CA. The real trick is just get there early enough to beat the crowds.
I wanted one of the Nook HD 8GB tablet/eReader machines that Target had for $79 on Thanksgiving Doorbuster this year. I definitely would have stood in line and rushed through crowds at opening on Thanksgiving to save $50 off the regular price of $129! But, money is tight, and we were too broke to afford that.

I used to get out and really shop on Black Friday. I have not done it in a couple of years now I do mine online. I went out a little yesterday it was not too bad

Black Friday and the two to three days before Christmas are probably the craziest around here. I’ve gone out before for extra cheap movies, but nowadays, nothing short of a 50% off book sale will drag me out of bed. 🙂
teepee
There’s none like that here that I know of. But the malls and store goes crazy a few days before school starts because everybody’s busy buying schools supplies. Also, Christmas and New Year celebrations make shoppers crazy. I would probably just involve myself with those situations if there are extremely cheap, if not free, books on the store. 🙂

We don’t have Black Friday here in my country or if we have it’s very rare and some people didn’t know what it’s about. But recently one of the malls here have a black Friday sale and me and my mom gathered things that will be great for gifts this Christmas, that was a crazy experience people are acting like it’s the end of the world, great thing is it is not brute just like what I saw on some black Friday sale videos on YouTube. That’s crazy apocalypse.

I am well acquainted with Black Friday although I didn’t go this year. I usually stay away from crazy places like Walmart and Best Buy but I can totally see the allure of getting awesome deals on electronics and what not. If I’m ever in the market for a TV or something, I might consider braving one of those places. I like going to outlets or the mall instead and just taking advantage of all the store wide sales to get some holiday shopping done! 🙂
