1) Request the day off of work for Friday, November 22.
I considered going at midnight on Thursday, but I imagine that will be TOO much craziness, and am I really going to be feeling alert by the time it ends after 2 AM?
2) Purchase a ticket at a theater that has reserved seating for the 9 AM show.
Reserved seating for a huge release on opening day is key for me. I avoid opening days whenever possible, because I like to stay away from the crowds, but Catching Fire is a movie that I MUST see right away. And the reserved seats eliminates the need to get to the theater super early, even though I plan to be there by 8:30 AM, which is still pretty damn early.
3) Debate whether to re-read Catching Fire.
It’s been a couple of years since I last read Catching Fire. I thought about re-reading it before the film release, but I decided I wanted to go into it as “fresh” as possible. There’s a lot that I can’t recall now from the book, so that should make the experience of watching the movie more exciting.
4) Share in the excitement by giving away books from The Hunger Games trilogy.
Several weeks ago, I did a STS post that included my purchase of the new UK Hunger Games paperbacks. You can see the details in this post, but the short story is that the USPS mangled and opened the package and damaged the books, and I ultimately ended up with two sets. So, I’ve got one set to give away! To be clear, they are NOT in perfect condition, as you can see from the photos below. There is some bending and peeling of the covers, as well as dog-eared pages in one book. So, while they are new books, they were completely unacceptable as a purchase (especially since buying and getting them shipped from the UK wasn’t cheap.). However, as a freebie, I think they’re great.
There will be two winners for this giveaway. The U.S. winner will receive the full series pictured above, and a non-U.S. winner will receive his/her choice of a paperback of either The Hunger Games, Catching Fire, or Mockingjay from The Book Depository.
So, tell me: Are you ridiculously excited for the movie? Do you plan to re-read Catching Fire? Or, if you haven’t read the books, what are you waiting for??? 🙂
And while you wait for the movie, enjoy this awesome clip of cats acting out The Hunger Games.
