Top Ten Tuesday is a meme created by The Broke and the Bookish. Each week a new topic is given, and this week’s topic is:

Top Ten Books That Will Make You Cry

if you find me
If You Find Me by Emily Murdoch: The scenes of sexual abuse were very hard to read, but what really got me was the much-needed heart-warming moment between a young girl and a dog.

the road
The Road by Cormac McCarthy: This post-apocalyptic world is so brutal that you can start to become numb to all the atrocities, but the last few sentences filled me with hope.

the outsiders 2
The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton: I haven’t read this since I was a teenager, but that one death (you know the one) hit me hard every time.

Champion by Marie Lu: I didn’t love the last book in the Legend series QUITE as much as the first two, but I LOVED LOVED LOVED the perfect ending.

Night by Elie Wiesel: This scarred me when I read it in middle school.

grinch 2
How the Grinch Stole Christmas by Dr. Seuss: He grew a heart!  It doesn’t get more beautiful than that.

Charm & Strange by Stephanie Kuehn: After you read the book, go back and take a long look at the cover.

the green mile
The Green Mile by Stephen King: The movie made me cry, too.

The green mile and the outsiders, I cried at both the book and the movie! The grinch is such a cute book. I cried on that stupid song by Faith Hill at the end of the movie lol.

OMG, I love love LOVE your list and totally forgot about The Green Mile. I wept like no other when I saw the movie version. I think I definitely have to agree with you on The Grinch and Champion (PERFECT ending, right?!) too.

I have a tendency to avoid books that I know will make me cry because I’m so scared of all those FEELS. But sometimes, a good book/movie will catch me off guard and have me sobbing uncontrollably.

Oh, The Outsiders is a choice that I definitely agree with. That is still one of my favorite books, I should give it a reread soon.
